Canada Day

Happy Canada Day! I dressed up for the occasion with Lizzy a few weeks ago and took a couple of pictures. It was fun to be matching and patriotic. I am working for five hours tomorrow, but I will be home with plenty of time to celebrate and watch the fireworks from our back yard. We are not planning on keeping Lizzy awake for it but we should have a good view from our back yard.

Lizzy is getting a second tooth. It is comming in right beside "Little Chomper" but it has not broken through yet. She was walking with Patrick today and only holding on with one hand so I figure she will let go soon and walk on her own. She is growing up fast.

Toothy Grin

Lizzy's first tooth is comming on today! I have been waiting for this for months. She is 10 months and 9 days old. The tooth explains why she has been restless the last couple of nights. I am so excited that she is finally getting her first chomper. It is the lower left front tooth. A few of the bumps have poked through the skin and it is making her grumpy. Poor little gorl.

The Demize of Blogging

I joined Facebook two weeks ago and have completly ignored my blog ever since then. I find it easier to just say a word or two rather then the long diatribes I sometimes post here. I have noticed that the people who dragged me into Facebook are posting less often on their blogs as well. I still want to keep this thing going though since I am in part using it as a journal of Lizzy's life. She is very close to walking on her own now. She stands all the time without holding on to anything for support. Soon she will figure out that she can take steps and go places at the same time. I figure that when che wants to carry something that is too akward to carry in one hand as she crawls, or to pack around in her mouth like a dog, she will walk so she can have her hands free.

Patrick took this week off work so he can be around for our Fourth anniversary, and so he can relax for a few days and hopefully feel up to the task of getting a new job. We went to the indoor playground on Monday and I finally got some pictures there. The ones Patrick took were all so focused on Liz that My head was cut off, but I have some nice ones of him and Liz. She is fussy right now since she is running on too little sleep. She has been sleeping much better lately though. She was ten months old on Monday and she still has no teeth!!

We think we will go car shopping tomorrow. It will probably be an expensive day. We are also going out for lunch and getting Patrick and Lizzy some new clothes, and new shoes for Patrick. I am not sure if I will get anything for myself. Oh yeah, I need new shoes as well. It is a good thing that I just paid off my Visa.

3042 Words

I have gone through just over half of my vacation pictures. There were about 180 of them. It took two hours for them to load onto my computer. I think I need a better system. Here are a select few pictures.

This was the last half of the train ride from Nanoose Bay to Qualicum Beach. Liz slept for almost an hour. We finished the train ride in Courtenay.

Stairs

A couple times a day Lizzy decides to climb the stairs. She stands at the bottom for a while first thumping her hands on the third step, then as soon as I am right behind her she zooms right on up. Sometimes she stops at the landing to scratch at Galidor's scratching post. Other times she just crawls right on over and keeps going without pausing at all. I should time her so I will remember just how fast she is, but I am usually preoccupied with making sure that she doesn't fall. She is sure on her feet, but not at all carefull. She is just supremly confidant that if she stands up and leans backwards I will catch her. It makes it very challenging to get a picture of her at it. I think I need to coordinate my photography efforts with Patrick to get a really good shot. Most of the pictures I took today turned out blurry or off center since I kept one hand just out of the frame waiting to catch her.

The poor girl woke up with a fever this morning. When she woke at 5:30 she was 102 F. I took her PJ's off and let her crawl around in her crib shirt for half an hour and it went down to 99 F. I turned off the heater in her room and let her sleep in her crib shirt with just her snuggly blankie. At 8:00 she woke again and her temp was 103.3 F. I called the nurses hotline and left them a message to call me back. When the nurse called back Lizzy started crying and coughing. I left her with Patrick so I could hear the nurse while I described her symptomes. After the call was over I went into our room to find that Patrick had the rude awakening of Liz puking all over him and our bed. Her temperature went down though and she was just a bit warm and a bit cranky through the day. I hope this is just some discomfort because of teething or something equally benign. We leave for BC in three days and I don't want her to be sick for our trip.

On the sick note, I am not 100% yet but I think I am on the mend.
